When each kind of work is filed

Permits by calendar month, 100 = an average month (the thin line), October 2024 through September 2026. Kinds of work do not all peak together. Each month is counted twice (once a year), so one unusual month still moves these numbers.

How Corpus Christi compares with other cities

From our cross-city data studies: the same measure, read the same way, for every city we cover.

How these numbers are made

Source: City of Corpus Christi Development Services, Fiscal Permit History Reports by Month (Excel), read 19 Oct 2026. We count permits issued October 2024 through September 2026; denied and withdrawn permits are left out. The city's monthly report shows each permit's status only as of the month it was issued and never updates it, so no finished share is shown.

Building and trade permits (building, roofing, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, septic, demolition and repair) that City of Corpus Christi Development Services issued inside the city. Fire permits, certificates of occupancy, grading and right-of-way permits are not counted.

  • Corpus Christi publishes its permits as a monthly Excel report; these pages stack the reports from October 2024 on.
  • Each permit is listed once, in the month it was issued, with its status as of that report, so the file can't say which permits were later finished, and there is no final date.
  • The report names the contractor company registered with the city on nearly every permit. We show how many permits the most active ones filed, which is volume, not quality.
  • Most new-home and trade permits in the report carry no declared value, so no values are shown.
  • New homes come with separate electrical, plumbing and mechanical permits, which are counted under those trades.

Counts are permits, not jobs: one job can need several permits. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can. Sources and definitions →
