Hiring for our own houses was a coin toss. It shouldn't be.
Search for a roofer in your city. You get a page of ads, then directories where the roofers paid to be there, then reviews where you can't tell who wrote what or why. Nothing tells you whether the last ten jobs got finished.
Meanwhile the city has a file on every one of them. Every permit they pulled, what the job was worth, every inspection, whether it passed. It's public. It's just buried in a portal nobody uses, in a format nobody can read, spread across dozens of systems that don't talk to each other.
We built this because hiring for our own houses was a coin toss and the “top rated” sites were charging the contractors, not helping us. So we read those files, city by city, and cleaned them up until they made sense. Here's the file the city keeps. No account, no catch.
Nothing. If that ever changes, it won't be contractors paying for position. That's the one rule we won't move on.
Whether they're pleasant. Whether they clean up. Whether the quote is fair. A clean record is necessary, not sufficient. Still get references, a written contract and proof of insurance. We say this on every page because it's true.
Your page is built from the city's record of you, matched by name and license number. If something is wrong, tell us and we'll check the source and fix it. We won't take money to change it.
