When each kind of work is filed

Permits by calendar month, 100 = an average month (the thin line), May 2022 through April 2026. Kinds of work do not all peak together. Each month is counted 4 times (once a year), so one unusual month still moves these numbers.

How Oxford compares with other cities

From our cross-city data studies: the same measure, read the same way, for every city we cover.

How these numbers are made

Source: City of Oxford Building Permits (ArcGIS FeatureServer), read 20 Oct 2026. We count permits issued May 2022 through April 2026; denied and withdrawn permits are left out.

Building and trade permits the City of Oxford issued inside the city limits. Oxford Township and the rest of Butler County are not in this file. Curb, sidewalk and street-cut permits, driveways and site modifications, zoning and change-of-use reviews are left out. The file holds no plumbing permits apart from gas lines, so plumbing barely appears here.

  • Oxford is a small city that issues about 300 building and trade permits a year, so these pages use four years of permits (May 2022 to April 2026) rather than two.
  • The city's permit layer was last updated in June 2026 and its newest permit was issued in May 2026, so the pages end with April 2026, the last full month.
  • The file has a status (finaled, expired, issued) but no final inspection date, so we can show which permits were finished but not how long they took.
  • The value is the job value declared on the permit, which sets the fee. It is not a final cost, and some permits carry no value.
  • Every address in the city is in ZIP code 45056 and the file has no ZIP column, so there are no ZIP code pages.
  • Contractor names are as the city wrote them, filled in from 2020 on; owner-builders, placeholders such as TBD and personal names are left out.

Counts are permits, not jobs: one job can need several permits. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can. Sources and definitions →
