How these numbers are made

Source: Delaware County Regional Planning Commission, Building Permits from August 2025 to July 2026 (ArcGIS Online layer BP_1_Year_to_0926), read 21 Oct 2026. We count permits issued October 2025 through September 2026; denied and withdrawn permits are left out. The county's planning extract records new-construction permits as they are issued and carries no permit status or final inspection date, so no finished share is shown.

New-construction permits Delaware County Code Compliance issues for the county's townships and villages (Liberty, Berlin, Orange, Sunbury, Galena, Berkshire, Concord, Genoa, Kingston and the rest): new one-, two- and three-family homes and new commercial buildings. Remodels, additions and trade permits are not in this file. The cities of Delaware, Powell, Dublin, Westerville and Columbus issue their own permits and are not in it.

  • The file holds new construction only, so nearly every permit here is a new home; it says nothing about remodels, roofs or trade work in the county.
  • It is a rolling one-year planning extract, so it covers twelve months (October 2025 to September 2026) and there is no year-on-year comparison.
  • The file has no permit status, final inspection date or ZIP code.
  • The value is the construction cost written on the permit, not the sale price of the home.
  • Multi Family here means two- and three-family buildings permitted under Ohio's residential code, which we count with new homes.

Counts are permits, not jobs: one job can need several permits. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can. Sources and definitions →
