Henderson, Nevada contractor license lookup: which license, where to search, and what the permits show

Henderson's contractors are licensed by the State: the Nevada State Contractors Board's free License Search shows the classification and the monetary limit, the most a firm may contract for on your job. The City's part is the permit record, in its DSC Online portal. In our Henderson file, 1,202 firms pulled 33,051 permits from October 2023 to September 2026, and 10,160 of them were for block walls and fences.

Which license each job needs in Henderson

Patio covers and decks B, or the matching C specialty 1,472 89

The NSCB sorts licenses into "Classification A: General Engineering (A-1 to A-25)", "Classification B: General Building (B-1 to B-7)", AB for both, and C, "Nevada Contractor License Subclassifications (42 Subcategories)" (NSCB, read 22 October 2026). A C license covers one trade, so a pool specialist bidding your whole backyard remodel is outside it. The exact scope of each C subclass is set in NAC chapter 624; ask the Board if the record's wording is unclear.

Every license also carries a monetary limit, the "maximum contract a licensed contractor may undertake" on one or more contracts at a single site for a single client (NRS 624.220). Compare it with your contract price before you sign.

The handyman line is $1,000. NRS 624.031 exempts "Any work to repair or maintain property the value of which is less than $1,000, including labor and materials", but not if "A building permit is required to perform the work", or if the work is the kind done by a plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, heating or air-conditioning contractor (NRS 624, read 22 October 2026). Every row in our file is a permit, so every one of these jobs needed a licensee.

How to run the lookup in five minutes

  1. Ask for the license number and the monetary limit. NRS 624 says a residential improvement contract must state "contractors license number and the monetary limit on that license".
  2. Open the NSCB License Search and search by license number, company name or a principal's name. Check the status is active, the classification covers your job, and the limit is above your price.
  3. Do not pull the permit yourself. The NSCB says "A claimant is not eligible for payment from the Fund if the claimant obtained any building permit for the project", and the fund "is not available to homeowners who have hired unlicensed contractors". The fund pays up to $40,000 a claim (Residential Recovery Fund, read 22 October 2026).
  4. Track record: open the firm on our Henderson wall and fence list, pool list or solar list.

How to search Henderson permit records

Henderson's permits live in DSC Online, linked from Building and Fire Safety's Building Online Services page. The City lists "Search / View Public Information", "View Permit / Plan Review Status" and "View inspection results" among its functions (read 22 October 2026). For older permit files, the Development Services Center offers "Research and copying of Building Permit records" at the first-floor permit counter, 702-267-1410 (Records).

On the permit, check the contractor's name and license number match your contract. If the permit names you as owner-builder, you have lost the Recovery Fund for that job.

DSC Online is organised by permit and address. Ours is organised by firm: every Henderson permit a firm pulled in three years, the share finaled and the days it took, on the Henderson permit statistics page and the compare lists.

What 33,051 Henderson permits show

Trade Permits Firms Finaled Usual days to final Five busiest firms' share
Walls and fences 10,160 137 50.2% 475 85.9%
New homes 8,476 80 96.0% 181 65.4%
Solar 6,124 83 93.2% 25 55.6%
Electrical 2,256 203 77.6% 29 35.3%
Plumbing 1,604 198 70.2% 14 27.4%
Patio covers and decks 1,472 89 87.5% 35 37.6%
Pools and spas 1,413 70 93.4% 114 38.4%
Remodel and repair 759 191 91.9% 91 34.4%
HVAC 519 29 82.9% 22 88.8%

"Finaled" is the share of permits a year or more old with a recorded final. Henderson does not publish job values on these permits, so we show no usual price.

Walls are the outlier. Only 50.2% finaled, usually after 475 days, and among the 25 wall firms with 10 or more permits the finished share runs from 13.9% at the 10th percentile to 90.3% at the 90th. One firm holds 48.6% of all wall permits, so the city figure mostly describes it; for a backyard wall, read your own contractor's share on its page. Electricians are tighter, 54.1% to 90.8%, but 13 of 37 busy electrical firms were under 70%.

Red flags in Henderson

  • No license number or monetary limit on the contract, or a contract price above the limit.
  • A C specialty license on a firm bidding a whole remodel, addition or casita.
  • A contractor who asks you to pull the permit "to save time". That ends your Recovery Fund claim.
  • A handyman offering plumbing, electrical or AC work at any price.
  • A firm that has gone quiet: 14 solar firms and 12 electrical firms with 5+ permits filed none in the last 12 months.

What this lookup does not tell you

We have not matched Henderson permits to the NSCB's license file, so our Henderson pages show no license status: check it yourself on the Board's search. Henderson publishes no job values on these permits. Our file covers the City of Henderson only, not Las Vegas or unincorporated Clark County. A license says the firm may work, not how its last job went. The statewide rules, penalties and Recovery Fund limits are in How to check a contractor's license in Nevada.

How we know this

Permits are City of Henderson building permits, 2023-10 to 2026-09, grouped into the trades above. "Finaled" uses permits a year or more old; the percentile figures use firms with 10 or more permits. No license status is shown for Henderson firms. Rules are quoted from NRS chapter 624 on the Nevada Legislature's site, the NSCB's own pages and the City of Henderson's pages, read 22 October 2026.

Numbers come from City of Henderson development services permits, data through October 14, 2026. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can.

Questions

  • Who licenses contractors in Henderson, Nevada?

The Nevada State Contractors Board (NSCB). Every license has a classification (A general engineering, B general building, AB both, or one of 42 C specialties) and a monetary limit, the largest contract the firm may take for one client on one site. The City of Henderson issues permits and business licenses, not contractor licenses.

  • Where do I look up a Henderson contractor's license?

On the NSCB's free Contractor License Search, by license number, company name, or the name of a principal or qualified individual. Read the classification, the monetary limit and the status.

  • Does a handyman need a license in Henderson?

For repair or maintenance under $1,000 in labor and materials, no, unless the work needs a building permit, is plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, heating or air-conditioning work, is part of a bigger project, or is split to dodge the law (NRS 624.031). So no unlicensed handyman may swap a water heater or add an outlet.

  • Can I claim on Nevada's Recovery Fund if I pulled the permit myself?

No. The NSCB says a claimant is not eligible if the claimant obtained any building permit for the project, and the fund is not available to homeowners who hired unlicensed contractors. The maximum per claim is $40,000.

  • How do I see the permits on a Henderson address?

Through the City's DSC Online portal, linked from Building and Fire Safety's online services page, which offers 'Search / View Public Information', permit status and inspection results. For older permit files, call the Development Services Center permit counter on 702-267-1410.
