How these numbers are made

Hoboken files a certificate of approval with the state for only a few of its permits, so no finished share is shown.

Construction permits the City of Hoboken construction office issued and reported to the state, for the City of Hoboken only. Jersey City, Weehawken, Union City and the rest of Hudson County are not included.

• Hoboken publishes no permit file of its own. These are the permits Hoboken reports to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, whose register names no contractor, so there are no contractor lists, rankings or firm pages for Hoboken.
• The state register was last updated in August 2026 and Hoboken reported almost no permits for April to June 2025, so the window runs from July 2025 through July 2026.
• Hoboken seldom reports certificates of approval to the state, so the register can't show which permits finished or how long a permit takes.
• Nearly every permit is filed as an alteration. Electrical and plumbing are permits that carried only that trade's fee; any job with a building fee counts as a remodel. Homes include apartment and condominium buildings as well as one- and two-family houses.
• The value is the estimated construction cost on the permit, which sets the fee. It is not a final cost.
• Hoboken is a single ZIP code (07030), so there are no ZIP pages.
