Corpus Christi building permit search: the Dynamic Portal and the monthly permit reports

To check a permit in Corpus Christi, use the City's Dynamic Portal for a single record, or the Fiscal Permit History Reports by Month, which list every permit Development Services issued each month in Excel, with the address, contractor and status. The City calls the Dynamic Portal its "online permit application portal" and says "first time users will need to apply for an online account" (Development Services, read 24 October 2026). The reports need no account. From October 2024 to September 2026 they list 33,542 building and trade permits.

How to look up the permits on a Corpus Christi address

  1. Open the monthly reports page and download the Excel version for the month the work was done, and the month before.
  2. Search the sheet for your street name in the Str Name column, then match the Str No.
  3. Note each permit number. A new house or a remodel usually has a building permit plus separate plumbing, electrical and mechanical permits.
  4. Read the Applicant column to see which registered contractor pulled each one.
  5. Look the permit number up in the Dynamic Portal for its current status and inspections, or call Development Services at 361-826-3240.

What the statuses mean here

The Status column in each monthly report is a snapshot from the day that report was run, and a permit appears only in the month it was issued. In the stacked reports from September 2023 to September 2026, 83.5% of permits show Issued and 15.8% Closed. The Closed share is higher for permits issued early in the month (18.9% for days 1 to 10) than late (11.5% for days 21 to 31), which shows the column records only what closed within weeks.

Status in the report What it means
Issued Permit issued; work may or may not be finished, the report is never updated
Closed Closed out before that month's report was run
Open On 384 rows; the report does not define it
Void, Withdrawn, Expired Cancelled or lapsed

So a permit marked Issued in an old report is not evidence that the work was never inspected. Check the live record.

When the record is not online

The permit-level monthly reports start in September 2023. For anything older, or for plans and inspection records, use the City's General Public Information Request Form, linked from the Public Records page. The City asks you to check its free online records first and says information is released "as promptly as possible unless the information is exempt" under the Public Information Act (read 24 October 2026).

What our Corpus Christi pages add

Our Corpus Christi page stacks the monthly reports from October 2024 to September 2026:

Kind of work Permits (Oct 2024–Sep 2026) Share Homes
Plumbing 8,363 25% 87%
Electrical 6,887 21% 81%
HVAC 5,287 16% 86%
Roofing 3,874 12% 93%
Remodels and repairs 3,266 10% 100%
New homes 2,195 7% 100%
Solar 1,176 4% 100%
Pools and spas 472 1% 100%

New-home permits fell 22% and solar 47% from the first year of the window (October 2024–September 2025) to the second. ZIP 78415 had the most permits, 5,635. Each kind-of-work page lists the contractors that filed the most permits in the window, which is volume, not quality. The permit statistics page has year, month and ZIP counts, and browse permits lists the rows. To check a Texas license, see How to check a contractor's license in Texas.

What this does not tell you

The reports never update a status and carry no final date, so we show no finished share or time to final. Most new-home and trade permits carry no declared value, so we show no costs. We have not matched contractor names to state license records, so we don't rate or rank firms.

How we know this

The portal description is from the City of Corpus Christi Development Services page, the Lookup Record search from its Dynamic Portal Training Guide, and the records route from its Public Records page, all read 24 October 2026. Our counts and status shares are the City's Fiscal Permit History Reports by Month (Excel), read 19 October 2026; the counts cover permits issued October 2024 to September 2026.

Numbers come from public permit records in 57 cities, data through October 19, 2026. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can.

Questions

  • How do I find out if a permit was pulled on my house in Corpus Christi?

Open the City's Fiscal Permit History Reports by Month and search the Excel report for the months around the job for your street name. Each row has the permit number, address, contractor and status. With a permit number, you can also look the record up in the Dynamic Portal.

  • Can I look up Corpus Christi permits by contractor?

Yes, in the monthly Excel reports: the Applicant column is the contractor company registered with the City, filled on nearly every permit. Filter that column by the firm's name.

  • What does Closed mean on a Corpus Christi permit report?

That the permit was closed by the time that month's report was run. Each permit appears once, in the month it was issued, so a permit that closed later still shows Issued. Check the record itself in the Dynamic Portal.

  • How many building permits does Corpus Christi issue?

About 16,800 a year: 33,542 building and trade permits from October 2024 to September 2026 in the City's monthly reports. Plumbing led with 8,363, then electrical with 6,887.

  • How do I get an old Corpus Christi permit file?

The monthly permit-level reports start in September 2023. For older permits or plans, file a public information request with the City's General Public Information Request Form, linked from its Public Records page.
