Anaheim building permit search: Anaheim NEXT and the Building Permit Report

Anaheim's permits are in Anaheim NEXT, the City's Accela portal: its Search for Building Records page searches by permit number, date range or street address (read 23 October 2026). The City also runs a Building Permit Report that "lets you search, view, and export issued and finaled building permits for the City of Anaheim", with the contractor's name on each row (user guide). In our Anaheim file, 2,999 firms pulled 9,903 permits on homes from October 2023 to September 2026.

How to look up permits on an Anaheim address

  1. Open Search for Building Records and enter the street number and street name.
  2. Open each record and read its type and status.
  3. For the contractor and job value, open the Building Permit Report, choose Issued, set a date range of up to 10 years, click Apply Changes, then sort or export to CSV and find your address.
  4. Read Owner / Builder: it shows whether the owner acted as the contractor.
  5. Check the contractor's CSLB license: the steps are in the Anaheim contractor license lookup. Permit questions go to buildingdivision@anaheim.net.

What the statuses mean

Our pages count Finaled and Completed as finished, timed from issue to the finaled date. Expired, On Hold and Case Closed count as not finished; void permits and those never issued are left out (Anaheim about page; methodology).

Trade Permits Firms Finaled (a year or more old) Usual days to final
Roofing 1,970 568 96.4% 16
Electrical 1,729 640 89.0% 35
HVAC 1,415 210 85.8% 64

Remodel 668 423 68.3% 180
ADU 330 202 94.0% 307

Anaheim roofing permits usually final in 16 days. Remodels are the slow, often-open ones, so on a remodel ask for the final inspection before the last payment.

When the record is not online

The City Clerk's Records page lists building permits among the records "readily available to the public online through the Public Portal", and says to submit a Public Records Request if you can't find what you need. The Clerk's office is at 200 S. Anaheim Boulevard, 2nd Floor, Room 217, (714) 765-5166 (read 23 October 2026).

How we know this

Search fields are from Anaheim NEXT's Search for Building Records page and the Building Permit Report and its user guide; records wording is from the City Clerk's Records page, all read 23 October 2026. Our counts are City of Anaheim building permits on homes, October 2023 to September 2026.

Numbers come from City of Anaheim Accela building permits on single-family homes and ADUs, data through October 1, 2026. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can.
