Holly Springs, NC building permit search: the Permit Tracker and the monthly reports

To look up a building permit in Holly Springs, North Carolina, use the Town's Permit Tracker, the Permit Application Search in its CityView portal. The Town says the tracker lets you "Search by permit number or service address" and that "This database contains all permits submitted to the Town of Holly Springs since September 2009" (Permit Tracker page, read 24 October 2026). From October 2025 to September 2026 the Town's monthly reports list 2,711 building and trade permits.

Which office has your permit

The Town of Holly Springs Development Services permits property in the town and its planning area. Wake County, Apex, Fuquay-Varina, Cary and Raleigh run their own permit offices, and some Holly Springs addresses carry an Apex or Fuquay-Varina mailing ZIP. See the Wake County and Cary guides for those offices.

How to look up the permits on a Holly Springs address

  1. Open the Permit Tracker. The page needs JavaScript turned on.
  2. Enter the service address, or the permit number from your paperwork.
  3. Open each permit. HVAC change-outs, water heater change-outs and electrical work are separate single-trade permits from a building permit.
  4. Read the status and inspection list to see whether a final inspection passed.
  5. If nothing comes up, the property may be under Wake County or a neighbouring town.

What the statuses mean here

The Town's monthly Permits Issued reports list permits as they were issued and carry a Status column only in the October 2025 to April 2026 files. In those, 28.0% of 1,680 permits read Closed and 71.5% "Permit(s) Issued", as of the day each report was run. A permit that closed after its month still reads Permit(s) Issued, so the reports can't show which permits were finished; the record in the Permit Tracker can.

When the record is not online

Requests for records not in the Permit Tracker go through the Town's Public Records Request page under N.C.G.S. Chapter 132. The Town Clerk's Office is the custodian of Town records, and the Town says "There is no charge for inspecting records in person or receiving them electronically"; copies and requests needing extensive staff time are charged by the fee schedule, with an estimate first. The Clerk's Office also keeps scanned records back to 1909 for research by appointment at Town Hall, 128 S. Main Street (read 24 October 2026).

What this does not tell you

The Town posts only its last 12 monthly reports, so our pages cover one year and can't compare with the year before. The reports name no contractor, so we have no firm lists for Holly Springs, and no final date, so we show no finished share or time to final. The value is the total valuation declared on the permit, which sets the fee, not what the job cost.

How we know this

The Permit Tracker's search options and coverage are from the Town of Holly Springs Permit Tracker page and CityView portal, and the records route from its Public Records Request page, all read 24 October 2026. Our counts and status shares are the Town's monthly Permits Issued reports, read 19 October 2026: permits issued October 2025 to September 2026.

Numbers come from public permit records in 57 cities, data through October 19, 2026. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can.

Questions

  • How do I find out if a permit was pulled on my house in Holly Springs?

  • Is my Holly Springs address permitted by the Town or by Wake County?

Holly Springs permits property in the town and its planning area. Some Holly Springs addresses carry an Apex or Fuquay-Varina mailing ZIP, so search the Permit Tracker first; if nothing comes up, try Wake County or the neighbouring town.

  • Can I look up Holly Springs permits by contractor?

The CityView portal has a Contractor Search for contractors registered with the Town. The Town's monthly permit reports do not name a contractor, so our Holly Springs pages have no firm lists.
