Wylie building permit search: where Wylie, TX permits can be looked up

Wylie, Texas has no public online permit search. The City's Building Inspection page lists the permits desk instead: Registration/Permitting, 1st Floor, Wylie Municipal Complex, 300 Country Club Rd., Building 100; 972-516-6100, option 3; permits@wylietexas.gov (read 24 October 2026). The City publishes no permit file of its own either. The Collin Central Appraisal District keeps a copy of Wylie's home permits as Collin CAD Building Permits on data.texas.gov, which is the source of our 2,552 Wylie permits from September 2025 to September 2026.

Where Wylie permits can be found

Where Search by What it shows
City permits desk (972-516-6100, option 3; permits@wylietexas.gov) Address or permit number, by request The City's own permit record, including status and inspections
Collin CAD Building Permits (open data) Any column: street number and name, ZIP, permit number, builder name Permit number, type, issue date, the issuing city, builder name and recorded value; no status
Our Wylie pages Kind of work, month Counts of permits on homes, and the most active builders by volume

The appraisal district records permits on homes only, and only in Collin County. Commercial permits are not in its file, and neither is the part of Wylie in Dallas and Rockwall counties.

How to look up the permits on a Wylie address

  1. Open Collin CAD Building Permits on data.texas.gov and choose to view the data.
  2. Filter situsCity to Wylie, then situsStreetName to your street and situsBldgNum to the house number.
  3. Read each row's permitTypeDescr, permitIssuedDate and permitBuilderName. City permits show permitIssuedBy as WYLIE CITY; a row naming another office, such as Collin County, was not a City of Wylie permit.
  4. To learn whether the permit was finaled, email permits@wylietexas.gov or call Building Inspections at 972-516-6423 with the permit number from step 3.
  5. If the house is in the Dallas or Rockwall county part of Wylie, skip the appraisal file and ask the City directly.

What the statuses mean

The appraisal district's copy has no status and no final date, so it can't show whether a permit passed its final inspection, and our Wylie pages show no finished share or time to final. Many permits the district lists as miscellaneous give no details; we count those under Other. Only the City's own record shows a permit's status.

When the record is not online

Use the City Secretary's Public Information Requests page, which links a form for "City of Wylie records" (everything except police). The City says copies cost 10 cents a page; for records kept at its offsite facility "there will be a transportation fee of $15 plus retrieval fees of $5 totaling $20 plus the copy charge"; and "you will be contacted within ten (10) business days from the date of your request" (read 24 October 2026). The City Secretary's Office is at 972-516-6022.

What our Wylie pages add

Our Wylie page counts the City's permits on homes as the appraisal district records them, September 2025 to September 2026:

Kind of work Permits (Sep 2025–Sep 2026) Last 12 months (Oct 2025–Sep 2026)
Roofing 1,043 813
Remodels and repairs 271 249
Plumbing 238 220
HVAC 225 216
Garages, sheds and shade structures 139 122

The window starts in September 2025 because before that the district filed many re-roofs as miscellaneous permits with no details. The permit statistics page has the file by month, and browse permits lists the rows without owner names or street addresses. To check the license of a plumber, electrician or HVAC contractor on a permit, use How to check a contractor's license in Texas.

What this does not tell you

The appraisal file is a partial copy: homes only, Collin County only, no status. It names builders, but we have not matched them to Texas license records, so our pages count permits per firm and don't rate or rank them. About half of permits carry a recorded value.

How we know this

The permits desk details are quoted from the City of Wylie Building Inspection page, and the request rules from the City Secretary's Public Information Requests page, both read 24 October 2026. Our counts are the Collin Central Appraisal District's building permit file (data.texas.gov 82ee-gbj5), read 20 October 2026: City of Wylie permits on homes issued September 2025 to September 2026.

Numbers come from public permit records in 57 cities, data through October 20, 2026. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can.
