How Johns Creek compares with other cities

From our cross-city data studies: the same measure, read the same way, for every city we cover.

How these numbers are made

Source: City of Johns Creek, Building Permits Issued (ArcGIS layer), read 23 Oct 2026. We count permits issued August 2024 through July 2026; denied and withdrawn permits are left out.

Permits the City of Johns Creek issues for homes inside city limits: residential building permits, plus mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fence, retaining-wall and demolition permits on property the tax roll classes as residential. Commercial building permits, trade permits on commercial property, right-of-way, sign, tree-removal and land-disturbance permits in the same file are not counted. Alpharetta, Milton, Duluth and the rest of Fulton and Forsyth counties run their own permit offices and are not in this file.

  • The city's file names no contractor, so there are no contractor lists, rankings or firm pages for Johns Creek.
  • The file has no job value, no final inspection date and no ZIP code, so we show no costs, no time to final and no ZIP pages.
  • A residential building permit in the file doesn't say whether it is a new house, an addition or a remodel, so those permits are counted together under other.
  • The city last refreshed its permit file in mid-August 2026, so the window ends in July 2026.
  • Trade permits are counted as home permits when the parcel's tax class is residential; trade permits on parcels we couldn't match are left out.

Counts are permits, not jobs: one job can need several permits. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can. Sources and definitions →
