Bend building permit search: the Online Permit Center and older records

In Bend, permits are looked up in the City's Online Permit Center, which holds the building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits. The City's help page lists "Search for Property or Development Information" among its frequently used tasks and says "All permits, applications, registrations, and licenses are applied for through our Online Permit Center Portal" (Portal Help, read 23 October 2026). In our Bend file, 1,127 firms pulled 15,631 permits on homes from October 2023 to September 2026.

Where to search Bend permits

Tool Search by What it shows
Online Permit Center Property address Building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits and their status
ePlans Application Historical planning application records submitted before 2020
Public records request Address and date range Records not online
Our Bend firm list Contractor name Each firm's permits, CCB match, share finaled and days to final

How to look up permits on a Bend address

  1. Open the Online Permit Center.
  2. Choose Search for Property or Development Information and enter the address.
  3. Open the property's permits: building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits are separate, and a new home or remodel carries several under one application.
  4. Read each permit's status and the contractor named on it.
  5. To track an application of your own, register for an account. For questions, the Permit Center is at 710 NW Wall Street; permit inquiries are taken weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What the statuses mean

In the permit file we read, a Bend application is finished when its status is Closed, Finaled or Complete; Expired is not finished, and Withdrawn, Canceled, Void and Denied applications are left out. Status and final date are set per application, so trade permits inside a builder's new-home application finish when the house does; our pages leave those out of the finished share (Bend about page; methodology).

Trade Permits Firms Finaled (a year or more old) Usual days to final
HVAC 4,427 169 93.4% 28
Electrical 3,938 190 88.1% 31
Plumbing 3,257 191 82.4% 67
Remodel and alteration 605 180 95.9% 88
Addition 181 112 90.8% 259
New home 1,849 149 97.9% 220

Bend finals nearly everything, and quickly: the usual HVAC permit is finaled in 28 days. A trade permit on your house still open after a couple of months is unusual here and worth a call; an Expired one means the work was never signed off.

When the record is not online

The City's ePlans page says "ePlans can be accessed for historical planning application records submitted before 2020" and "You may submit a records request via our Public Records Portal". The City Recorder's Public Records Request page says requests go in writing to the City Recorder, "who is the Custodian of Records", with your name, address, contact details, a date range, the property address and a description of the records (read 23 October 2026).

What our Bend data adds

The Permit Center is organised by property. Ours lists every Bend permit a firm pulled in three years, with its Oregon CCB match: the Bend permit statistics, and the compare lists for HVAC, electricians and remodelers. The CCB check itself is in the Bend contractor license lookup; which jobs need a permit is in Do I need a permit?
