Filing peaks in October (index 143, where 100 is an average month) and is lowest in February (79). Henderson's permits carry no job value, so we show no price; national ranges are in solar panel installation cost, and the money question in solar lease vs buy.
Which license a Henderson solar installer needs
Nevada licenses contractors through the NSCB, by classification (A general engineering, B general building, or one of the C specialties) (License Classifications, read 23 October 2026). Solar has its own rule in state law: under NRS 624.860 no one may "perform or offer to perform, provide any proposal or bid for or execute a contract to perform any work concerning a residential photovoltaic system" unless they hold a license authorizing that work or are employed by someone who does. So the door-to-door salesperson needs to work for a licensee.
Every license also has a monetary limit, "the maximum contract a licensed contractor may undertake" on one site for one client (NRS 624.220). The five-minute check: get the license number from the contract, search it on the NSCB License Search, and check the status, that the classification covers solar, and that the limit is above your contract price. If a sales company signs the contract and another firm installs, check both. More in the Henderson contractor license lookup.
The permit rule for solar in Henderson
State law puts the permit on the installer. NRS 624.865 says a contractor working on a residential photovoltaic system must "Apply for and obtain all applicable permits for the work", even when the owner is acting as the builder, and meet the requirements of the utility "to which the work will interconnect" (read 23 October 2026). Pulling the permit yourself also costs you protection: the NSCB says "A claimant is not eligible for payment from the Fund if the claimant obtained any building permit for the project", and the fund pays at most $40,000 (Residential Recovery Fund).
Check the permit in the City's DSC Online, linked from Building Online Services, which offers "Search / View Public Information" and "View inspection results". The permit should name the licensed installer. Other cities' rules: do I need a permit for solar panels.
Red flags in the Henderson record
- A finaled share under 86.7%. That is the 10th-percentile line among the 39 Henderson solar firms with 10 or more permits. The spread is narrow here, so a firm below it stands out.
- A firm that stopped filing. 14 solar firms with 5 or more permits filed none in the last 12 months. A long warranty from a firm that has left the market is hard to use; ask who services it.
- A contract with no license number or monetary limit, or a price above the limit.
- A salesperson who is not employed by a licensee. NRS 624.860 covers offering and bidding, not only installing.
- "You pull the permit and we install." The law puts the permit on the contractor, and you lose the Recovery Fund.

What the Henderson record does not tell you
"Finaled" means the City recorded a final; it does not mean the utility has granted permission to operate. Henderson publishes no job values on these permits, so we cannot compare prices. We have not matched permits to the NSCB's license file, so our pages show no license status. Our file covers the City of Henderson only, not Las Vegas or unincorporated Clark County. The national checklist is in hiring a solar installer, and state rules in how to check a contractor's license in Nevada.
How we know this
Permits are City of Henderson building permits classified as solar, 2023-10 to 2026-09. "Finaled" uses permits a year or more old; days to final is the median from issue to final. Percentile figures use solar firms with 10 or more permits. The busiest-firm table ranks by permits in the last 12 months. No license status is shown. Rules are quoted from NRS chapter 624 on the Nevada Legislature's site and from NSCB and City of Henderson pages, read 23 October 2026.
Numbers come from City of Henderson development services permits, data through October 14, 2026. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can.
Questions
- How do I choose a solar installer in Henderson?
Check the installer's Nevada State Contractors Board license covers residential solar and that its monetary limit is above your contract price, make sure the installer pulls the City permit, and read its Henderson record: 93.2% of Henderson solar permits a year or more old were finaled, usually 25 days after issue.
- Does a solar installer need a license in Nevada?
Yes. NRS 624.860 bars anyone from performing, bidding on or signing a contract for work on a residential photovoltaic system unless they hold an NSCB license that authorizes that work, or are employed by someone who does.
- Who pulls the solar permit in Henderson?
The contractor. NRS 624.865 says a contractor working on a residential photovoltaic system must apply for and obtain all applicable permits, even when the owner is acting as the builder, and meet the utility's interconnection requirements.
- Can I claim on Nevada's Recovery Fund if my solar installer fails?
Only if you hired a licensed contractor and did not pull the permit yourself. The NSCB says a claimant who obtained any building permit for the project is not eligible, and the fund pays at most $40,000 a claim.
- Who are the busiest solar installers in Henderson?
By permits in the last 12 months, Sunrun Installation Services Inc. led with 306. The five busiest hold 55.6% of Henderson's solar permits.
