To see the building permits on an address in Aurora, Colorado, type it into Aurora Property Info. The City's Records Requests page describes it as "Information about your property, permits, neighborhood, government and upcoming events in your area by entering an address in the Aurora city limits", and for each address it lists building permits with the permit number, issue date and valuation (read 24 October 2026). For inspections, the City's View Inspection Results page asks you to "Start your search by entering a House Number". In the City's open permit file, 32,210 building permits were issued from October 2024 to September 2026.

Where Aurora permits live

Tool Search by What it shows
Aurora Property Info Address (city limits only) Building permit number, issue date, valuation; documents with the address; zoning and code enforcement
View Inspection Results House number, then street Inspection results on the address
Building Plan Review and Permit Management (Aurora4Biz) Login Applying, paying, plan review for building permits
Building Permits layer (open data) Any field Permit type, issue date and valuation; our source

The City's Aurora4Biz page says a newer portal, DevPortal.AuroraGov.org, now handles floodplain, temporary use, sign, film and similar permits and development applications, while its building plan review and permit links still point to Aurora4Biz (read 24 October 2026). Aurora covers parts of Arapahoe, Adams and Douglas counties; unincorporated county land and neighbouring cities issue their own permits.

How to look up the permits on an Aurora address

  1. Open Aurora Property Info and start typing the address, then pick it from the list. The page asks for street prefixes "E", "N" or "S" without punctuation.
  2. Scroll to Building Permits to see each permit number, issue date and valuation.
  3. Open View Inspection Results, enter the house number and pick the street to see which inspections passed.
  4. If a permit has no passed final inspection, call the Building Permit Center at 303.739.7420. The City's Permits page gives that number "to check on the status of a permit, plan review, schedule inspections or have code questions".

What the statuses mean

Aurora's public tools show inspection results rather than a single permit status. The City's open permit file has no status and no final date at all, so our pages count permits issued but cannot show which finished or how long they took. Use the inspection results on your address, not our pages, to see whether a job was finaled.

When the record is not online

The City's Records Requests page links a Records Request Form for "all requests that cannot be found after searching the website" and says "Fees will be charged in accordance with the Aurora Administrative Fee Schedule" (read 24 October 2026). Search Property Info first: its Public Document Search lists documents filed with the address.

What our Aurora pages add

Property Info answers "what was permitted at this address". Our Aurora page answers "what gets permitted in Aurora, and when", from building permits issued October 2024 to September 2026:

Kind of work Permits (Oct 2024–Sep 2026) Of them, Oct 2025–Sep 2026
Roofing 10,525 2,761
HVAC 4,458 2,294
Plumbing 4,147 2,053
Electrical 3,259 1,558
New homes 2,399 1,146
Remodels and repairs 2,327 888
Solar 1,414 565
Garages, sheds and shade structures 375 190

Roofing fell from 7,764 permits in October 2024 to September 2025 to 2,761 in the year after. 50% of the 32,210 permits were on homes. The permit statistics page breaks them down by year, month and season, and browse permits lists the rows without owner names or street addresses. To check a contractor's state license, use How to check a contractor's license in Colorado.

What this does not tell you

The City's open file names no contractor and carries no ZIP code, status or final date, so we show counts and declared valuations only, not firm rankings, finish rates or time to final. A valuation is what was declared on the permit, not the final cost.

How we know this

Search fields were read on Aurora Property Info, the View Inspection Results page, and the City's Aurora4Biz, Permits and Records Requests pages on 24 October 2026. Our counts are the City of Aurora OpenData Building Permits layer, read 19 October 2026: building permits issued October 2024 to September 2026, City of Aurora only.

Numbers come from public permit records in 57 cities, data through September 30, 2026. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can.

Questions

  • How do I find out if a permit was pulled on my house in Aurora, Colorado?

Type the address into Aurora Property Info (ags.auroragov.org/propinfo). For an address inside the city limits it shows a Building Permits section with each permit number, issue date and valuation. For inspections, use View Inspection Results in the City's Building Plan Review and Permit Management site.

  • How do I check the status of an Aurora building permit?

Search the address under View Inspection Results, which starts with the house number and then the street, or call the Building Permit Center at 303.739.7420. The City's Permits page gives that number for permit status, plan review and inspections.

  • How do I request old Aurora permit records or plans?

Use the City's Records Request Form (cityofauroraco.nextrequest.com), linked from the Records Requests page. The page says fees follow the Aurora Administrative Fee Schedule.

  • Can I look up Aurora permits by contractor?

The City's public tools search by address. Its open permit file names no contractor, so our Aurora pages show what was built, not who built it. The Building Division has a separate contractor licensing and lookup page.

  • How many building permits does Aurora issue a year?

About 16,105 a year: the City issued 32,210 building permits from October 2024 to September 2026. Roofing led with 10,525 of them.
