How Tigard compares with other cities

From our cross-city data studies: the same measure, read the same way, for every city we cover.

Nearby permit data

New home permits for other places in Portland. Each permit office keeps its own file, so the numbers are not added together.

How these numbers are made

Source: City of Tigard, TigardMaps Permitting: All Permits (ArcGIS layer), read 20 Oct 2026. We count permits issued October 2024 through September 2026; denied and withdrawn permits are left out.

Building and trade permits the City of Tigard issues inside the city limits only. King City, Beaverton, Lake Oswego, Durham and unincorporated Washington County (such as Bull Mountain outside the city) have their own permit offices and are not in this file.

  • The city's permit layer names no contractor, so there are no contractor lists, rankings or firm pages for Tigard.
  • The layer marks a permit closed but gives no final inspection date, so these pages show which permits finished but not how long they took.
  • Plumbing, mechanical and electrical permits are separate from the building permit for the same job, so one job can count several times.
  • The value is the valuation on the permit, which sets the fee. Trade permits carry none. It is not a final cost.
  • Planning and land-use cases, right-of-way and utility permits, erosion control and code-compliance cases are left out.

Counts are permits, not jobs: one job can need several permits. Nobody paid to be on this page and nobody can. Sources and definitions →
